Explore. Develop. Grow. Empower.

EDGE Youth Leadership is an amazing, high-energy experience where students gather with their peers and with leaders in the community to engage in leadership and team building activities.  The students explore ideas, expand the breadth of their experiences and challenge themselves and each other to discover how they can make a difference in their own lives, their communities and the world.

Our Mission.

EDGE develops leadership potential in high school sophomores and inspires them to give back. Through interactive experiences with their peers and leaders in the community, young leaders gain confidence and skills that enable them to create positive improvements in their schools, communities and the world.

What happened to NCYLS (Northern California Youth Leadership Seminar)?

For the last 10 years, we have been proudly serving the youth of Northern California with our annual leadership seminar.  As we have grown, our vision for the future is expanding beyond just Northern California and beyond just one annual conference.

With that in mind, we realized that Northern California Youth Leadership Seminar will no longer describe what we plan to do.  We also wanted our name to more closely reflect the transformation of the participants’ experience.

We are pleased to announce our new name: EDGE Youth Leadership

EDGE stands for Explore, Develop, Grow and Empower.  The name captures the students’ journey throughout the seminar: they explore ideas and self-identity, develop leadership, public speaking and teamwork skills, grow in confidence, and in relationships with their peers, and are empowered to go back to their schools and communities to make a difference through volunteerism.

We hope you are as enthusiastic as we are about this exciting step forward for our organization.  Please join us as we move forward into the next 10, 20, 30 years of youth leadership development by getting involved!
